Presentation of the island of Koh Samui

and its archipelago

Koh Samui (in Thai: เกาะสมุย), Ko Samui or simply Samui is an island in the Gulf of Thailand located off the east coast in southern Thailand and belongs to the province of Surat Thani.

Located about 25 km from the coast, it is the second largest island of Thailand, with an area of 228 km².

It enjoys many natural tourist resources: white sand beaches, coconut trees, waterfalls, Buddhist temples, night and day markets, Thai boxing stadium.

The island is located in the Gulf of Thailand, also called Gulf of Siam, about 35 km northeast of the city of Surat Thani, in the center of a small archipelago of 85 islets, 6 of which are inhabited, which make up the park National Mu Koh Ang Thong (the islands of the Golden Bowl) that can be visited as a day trip !

Koh Samui has a rather circular shape (25 km x 20 km). The plains are connected by a single 52 km main road that essentially follows the coast. Its relatively large size without being huge allows to move easily by taxi, scooter or car. In just a few days, you can travel around the island and discover a local life still very rich and varied.

The island has 2 faces, its north coast and is more tourist and "city" compared to the south and west where we will find a more "countryside" atmosphere, calm and authentic.

Because of its size, it is then possible to go from one atmosphere to another very easily and quickly ! And so enjoy a multitude of options for a successful stay !

And Koh Samui is not only an island but a whole archipelago that is offered to you! Not far from 80 islets compose it, all, of course, not being inhabited.

About fifteen kilometers to the north, you can visit the island of Koh Phangan, famous for its Full Moon Party which takes place once a month but it would be a shame to summarize this one event as it offers a multitude of assets that are still less known: its idyllic and secluded beaches, its calm and authenticity, its green and lush side as well as a multitude of markets and typical villages.

We also offer the possibility of booking a day trip directly from Koh Samui!

To the west, you can enjoy the Angthong National Park and its grandiose landscapes often reminiscent of a kind of "mini bay Along". Again, it is possible to book a day trip from Koh Samui, fishing boat, speedboat or sailboat, to discover this jewel of the Gulf of Siam !

Finally, even further north of Koh Samui, about 60 km away, is the paradise of divers: Koh Tao. Minuscule compared to its neighbors with its dimensions of 7km by 3km, this island offers an incredible number of diving spots in mask-snorkel but also bottles.

You can also enjoy, in the immediate vicinity, Koh Nang Yuan, a real paradise composed of 3 small islands linked by a sandbar.
